Tide rolls in

Hearing the roar of the tide as it rolls in soothes my soul.  I am always humbled in the presence of the mighty ocean.  As I stand at the shore, I am reminded of the mythological stories from ancient times--the ones that name and describe powerful acts of nature.  Long ago people stood in awe of the country that surrounded them and respected the magnificent beauty and unseen power.  We don't stand in awe of the country that surrounds us anymore.  We tend to stand and think about what could be...

Gazing at the shimmering waters, I find myself grateful that I can scramble up the rugged coastal outcroppings to enjoy the moment...as I hear the healthy voices of my children amidst the roaring of water as they scramble in search of adventure.

The tide leaves behind sculpted sand...much like life leaves us...as we shift under the tides...unique and beautiful.

My son created a sand Valentine for me...one that will eventually disappear into the tide...just as the little boy with a mischievous grin is transforming into a young adult.

Ecclesiates 3:1-8
To every thing there is a season,
and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to rend, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate;
A time of war, and a time of peace.
